Meet La'Sonne Amos
La'Sonne Amos is a UW Hospital and Clinics imaging assistant. While he never expected to work here, he explains what brought him here and why he's glad he does.
What brought you to UW Health?
A friend of mine who is a firefighter and also worked part time here told me what a great organization UW Hospital and Clinics was, so I decided to look into it. At the time I was working another job that I really liked, but I decided to take the chance on leaving because my friend praised UW Hospital and Clinics so highly. Ever since then I've loved it and couldn't imagine doing anything else.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I served in the U.S. Navy as an airman apprentice for two years in Washington before moving to Wisconsin.
What is your favorite pastime?
I've been known to wake up at all hours of the night and head to the gym. I also like to box.
What is your favorite part of working here?
I really enjoy meeting a variety of patients from all different walks of life. I like having to adjust to all patients’ needs. For example, I might meet a patient who's having a bad day and by the end of their appointment they sometimes say that this was their best appointment to date. I like the personal challenge of keeping cool and composed under the most challenging circumstances.
If you were granted one wish, what would it be?
I would love to finish school and become a nurse anesthetist.
