Employee Profiles: Ann

Ann is a Radiation Therapist who has been with UW Hospital and Clinics since August 1992.

At Work I…
… deliver radiation treatments, mostly to cancer patients, using high energy linear accelerators. Most of our patients are treated Monday through Friday for two to six weeks. I am able to really get to know each patient more as a person and am able to see how our treatments have been beneficial to their health. It's very rewarding to hear each of their stories and watch them improve with time.

Ann, Radiation Therapist, UW Hospital and ClinicsWhy UW Hospital and Clinics?
I always wanted to work here because of the cutting-edge technology that is provided. We are always using the most "state-of-the-art" equipment available and are trained well for its use. We also have many world-renowned physicians and physicists, which help to promote our department and give our patients the best care possible.

What is your proudest moment?
We have many patients who show their gratitude by sending letters of appreciation to the administrators. These letters always mean a lot to me. Our supervisors always recognize us for the work we've done to get these letters from patients.

What is your favorite benefit at UW Hospital and Clinics?
I really like using the Employee Reimbursement Account UW Hospital and Clinics offers for both medical and dependent care expenses. Anything to save on income taxes! I also appreciate all that is done for us during Employee Appreciation Week every year in June. It's a week long of fun, and I appreciate the administrators taking the time to say thank you to us. One year, I was lucky enough to win a prize – golfing for two at University Ridge Golf Course – the perfect gift for me!
