Bone marrow: 2 mL collected in EDTA tube. Ship ambient temperature. Must be received within 96 hours of collection.
BAL and body fluids other than CSF and vitreous: 2 mL liquid in sterile screw cap container. Ship ambient temperature. Must be received within 96 hours of collection.
CSF and Vitreous fluid: Place fluid in sterile screw cap container. Do not ship specimen in syringe. Store frozen and ship on dry ice. CSF must be received within 96 hours of collection.
Biopsy/Tissue specimens- place in sterile screw cap container. Do not add water, saline or other fluid media to container. Store frozen and ship on dry ice. Formalin fixed, paraffin embedded tissue will not be accepted.
Fecal: collect pea size sample (or 2 mL liquid stool) in sterile screw cap container. Store frozen and ship on dry ice.
Eye swab: Sterile swab placed in 2 mL saline, M4 or viral transport media in a sterile screw cap container. Do not use calcium alginate swab or wood shafted swab. Ship ambient temperature. Specimen must be received within 96 hours.
