Test Name: Vitamin B7 (Biotin)

Clinical Significance: This test is not intended as a screening test for patients with biotinidase deficiency or as a follow up of an abnormal newborn screen for biotinidase deficiency.

Testing Site: Testing will be sent to an approved reference laboratory.


Specimen Requirements

Specimen Processing: After serum is separated from cells, protect serum from light using ARUP amber transport tube or wrap vial in foil. Freeze immediately.

Specimen Transport: Transport frozen specimen to UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220) on dry ice.
