Test Name: Immunophenotype

Test Code(s): PATHI / HCPATHI

CPT Code(s): 88187 2-8 antibodies, 88188 9-15 antibodies, 88189 16 or more antibodies

Test Description: Test Components: May include CBC, flow cytometry results and interpretation by hematopathologist.

Methodology: Flow Cytometry

Clinical Significance: This test is to be ordered only in cases in which a Hematopathology, Blood or Bone Marrow(PATHH/HCPATHH) test is not ordered.

Days Performed: Daily.

Turnaround Time: Stat: 2 - 3 days.


Specimen Requirements

Specimen: Blood or bone marrow

Collection Instructions: An order for a CBC and differential must accompany blood requests. Outside clients should send CBC and differential results and an unstained slide with blood specimens.

Specimen Transport: Transport specimen to UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220). See additional information for stability requirements. Blood specimens must be kept at room temperature. Do NOT centrifuge.

Unacceptable Criteria: Hemolyzed, clotted, frozen or overheated specimens are not acceptable. Blood samples greater than 24 hours old at the time of analysis are not acceptable.
