Test Name: CGA-Solid Tumor Set up and Hold Compound Test

Test Description: Test Components: Processing and storage of specimen. SLH 836.

Methodology: Cell culture, Giemsa/Trypsin/Leishman (GTL) banding

Clinical Significance: This test code should be used to process and stabilize specimen in case chromosome analysis is warranted.

Testing Site: Testing will be sent to an approved reference laboratory.


Specimen Requirements

Specimen: Tissue

Collection Instructions: Aseptically collected 0.3-1.0cm cubed section; avoid areas of necrosis. Place specimen in a sterile tissue vial containing transport media.
Tissue must be received and processed by WSLH within 24 hours of collection. Specimen must be received in UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220) on Monday-Friday only.

Sample Analyzed: Tissue

Specimen Transport: Transport specimen to UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220) at room temperature (may transport with coolant during hot, >85 degree weather).

Unacceptable Criteria: Samples processed with formalin.

Stability: Ambient: 24 hours
Frozen: Not acceptable

By report.

Test Limitations:

Testing can only be done if actively dividing tumor cells are present.

Additional Information:

If FISH testing is requested to characterize chromosome abnormalities, there will be an additional charge.
