Test Name: S-Sulfocysteine, Urine


CPT Code(s): 82127, 82570

Methodology: Tandem Mass Spectometry

Clinical Significance: Useful in diagnosis of patients with both Molybdenum cofactor deficiency (MoCoD) and isolated sulfite oxidase deficiency (ISOD).

Testing Site: Testing will be sent to an approved reference laboratory.

Days Performed: Once a week.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen: Urine

Collection Instructions: Random urine collection only.  No preservative necessary.

Collection Container: Preferred: Sterile screw cap container

Collection Volume: Preferred: 1 mL
Pediatrics: 0.3 mL

Specimen Transport: Immediately after specimen collection is completed, transport specimen to UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220). If transport is delayed, freeze specimen.

Outreach Specimen Transport: Transport frozen specimen to UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220) on dry ice.

Stability: Ambient: Not acceptable
