Testing Site: Testing will be sent to an approved reference laboratory.

Turnaround Time: Routine: 3 - 5 days.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen: Blood

Collection Instructions: Collect blood in ACD-A tubes. ACD-B tubes are also acceptable. Collect 40 mL of blood if platelet count is <100,000 or 10 mL of blood if platelet count is >100,000. For pediatric testing, collect as close to stated volumes as possible. Testing is dependent on the amount of platelets recoverable from submitted samples.

Sample Analyzed: Whole Blood

Specimen Transport: Transport specimen to UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220). Transport with coolant pack if coming from outreach location.
