Methodology: Flow Cytometry, Impedance, and where applicable, Manual Microscopy

Specimen Requirements

Specimen: Stem cell, peripheral blood

Collection Instructions: Place specimen in a tube with no anticoagulants. DO NOT place specimen in a red-top tube as it contains clot activators.

Collection Container: Preferred: See collection instructions.

Collection Volume: Preferred: 1 mL
Pediatrics: 1 mL

Sample Analyzed: Stem cell, peripheral blood

Volume Required: Preferred: 1 mL
Pediatrics: 1 mL

Specimen Transport: Transport specimen at ambient temperature to UWHC Core Laboratory (B4/220) immediately.

Unacceptable Criteria: Clotted specimens or specimens collected in red-top tubes (which contain clot activator) are not acceptable.

Stability: Ambient: 4 hours
Refrigerated: Not acceptable
Frozen: Not acceptable
