For bloody specimens, a lavender top tube is recommended.
For synovial fluids, a capped syringe is acceptable (needle must be removed before submitting to lab).

Samples that are clotted are not acceptable.

Interpretation
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
On samples with abnormal cells, a hematopathologist's written interpretive report is issued as a separate report.

| Test Limitations: |
|
Very small sample sizes may fail to demonstrate abnormal cells.
