Test Component: Microalbumin, urine creatinine and calculated ratio. The microalbumin/creatinine ratio will also be calculated and reported if a random urine creatinine and random urine microalbumin are ordered on the same urine collection.

| Patient Preparation: |
|
No vigorous exercise during 4 hours prior to collection. Patients should not collect the urine specimen during menses, since blood in the sample may affect test results.

| Collection Instructions: |
|
Collect in a urine container. No preservative necessary. First morning void is preferred. A blood-free specimen is preferred.

| Unacceptable Criteria: |
|
Collection container contaminated with preservative is not acceptable.
