Clinical Significance: Typically used to assess proportions of donor and recipient derived nucleated cells post stem cell transplant or in cases of suspected graft-vs-host disease.

Collection Container: Preferred: Lavender top

Collection Volume: Preferred: 4 mL
Pediatrics: 2 mL

Sample Analyzed: Whole Blood

Volume Required: Preferred: 2 mL
Pediatrics: 1.2 mL

Specimen Transport: Transport specimen to laboratory.

Stability: Ambient: 7 days
Refrigerated: 3 weeks
Frozen: Not acceptable


Interpretation

 

 >95% Donor DNA:  Predominantly Donor
 < 5% Donor DNA:  Predominantly Recipient
 5-95% Donor DNA:  Donor/Recipient Chimeric

    

Additional Information:

Test requires pre-transplant DNA samples on file in the laboratory for recipient and donor.
