Interpretation
Interpretive Guidelines:
A positive titer of 1:80 or greater on a single serum indicates current infection. Low titers may indicate a previous exposure to a related organism and may not be diagnostically significant in individuals with repeated exposure to brucellae.
| Test Limitations: |
Cross-reactions may occur between Brucella and Francisella species.
| Additional Information: |
Brucellosis is often related to occupational exposure. Serological results must be critically assessed along with clinical findings and occupational factors before a diagnosis is made.
