The serum/urine drug screens DO NOT detect all toxic substances. They do not detect alcohols, insecticides, cyanide, LSD, carbon monoxide, marijuana, salicylic acid, water soluble drugs such as diuretics, and many other chemicals and drugs. The serum drug panel will search for the presence of the following drugs:
ANALGESICS: antipyrine, ibuprofen, meperidine, methadone, naproxen, orphenadrine, phenylbutazone, propoxyphene, tramadol
ANTIDEPRESSANTS: bupropion, mirtazepine, paroxetine, sertraline, trazadone, venlafaxine
ANTIEPILEPTICS: carbamazepine, felbamate, lamotrigine, levetiracetam, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone, valproic acid, zonisamide ANTIHISTAMINES: chlorpheniramine, diphenhydramine, doxylamine, pyrilamine, tripelennamine
ANTIPSYCHOTICS: chlorpromazine, clozapine, thioridazine
SEDATIVES and HYPNOTICS: amobarbital, barbital, butabarbital, butalbital, carisoprodal, chlordiazepoxide, diazepam, ethchlorvynol, flurazepam, meprobamate, methaqualone, midazolam, nordiazepam, pentobarbital, secobarbital, thiopental
MISCELLANEOUS: chlorzoxazone, cyclizine, cyclobenzaprine, diltiazem, disopyramide, fluconazole, lidocaine, dextromethorphan, procainamide, theophylline, trimethoprim, verapamil.
Depending on dosage and/or route of administration, several other drugs may be detected. These include alprazolam, amitriptyline, clomipromine, cocaine, codeine, desipramine, doxepin, fluoxetine, hydocodone, imipramine, nortriptyline, and oxycodone.

This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by the UWHC Clinical Laboratories. This test meets the standards for clinical testing. This test should not be regarded as investigational or for research use. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved or cleared this test; however, the FDA has determined that such clearance or approval is not necessary.
