Available to Infectious Diseases physicians only. All other requests require UWHC Director of Microbiology approval. Call 608 263-4445 (pager 5569).
Blood must be aseptically collected. ChloraPrep Frepp the site. Preclean port of central line. Draw one - 10 mL Isolator® tube (1.5 mL Isolator® tube for pediatric patients) from each port and by venipuncture. Peripheral and line drawn specimens must be collected at the same time. Invert tube 4-5 times to mix.
