Specimen Requirements

Specimen: Prep of the perianal skin

Collection Instructions: Collect first thing in morning before voiding or bathing.
Press sticky surface of paddle or tape against perianal skin with moderate pressure.

Collection Container: Preferred: Pinworm collector kit
Also Acceptable: Sterile screw cap container

Specimen Transport: Transport specimen to UWHC Microbiology (B4/231).

Unacceptable Criteria: If tape is used, it MUST be transparent or specimen is not acceptable.

Stability: Ambient: Unlimited
Refrigerated: Not acceptable
Frozen: Not acceptable
