Specimen: Stool

Collection Instructions: See instructions included with kit.

Collection Container: Preferred: Para-Pak® Ova & Parasite (O & P) kit (pink and gray caps)
Also Acceptable: ECOFIX® kit, SAF (Sodium Acetate-Acetic Acid Formalin) kit, Sterile screw cap container

Sample Analyzed: Stool

Specimen Transport: Transport specimen to UWHC Microbiology (B4/231).

Unacceptable Criteria: LIMIT: One specimen every 48 hours.
Specimens on patients hospitalized more than 3 days are not acceptable unless the patient is immunocompromised.

Stability: Ambient: Unpreserved: 1 hour; Para-Pak®, SAF, ECOFIX®: Unlimited
Refrigerated: Not acceptable
Frozen: Not acceptable
