| Clinical Significance: |
|
The Scl-70 Ab test is a diagnostic aid in the diagnosis of scleroderma and is not definitive in isolation. Antibodies to Scl-70 antigen, also recognized as the enzyme topoisomerase 1, are found in approximately 20% of scleroderma patients and are highly diagnostic of the disease. In the diffuse form of scleroderma, the frequency of antibodies to Scl-70 may be as high as 70%.
