| Additional Information: |
|
Pneumococcal antigenuria can persist for six weeks following an episode of pneumococcal pneumonia. Pneumococcal vaccine can give a positive test for up to five days following immunization. The accuracy of the Binax NOW test in urine has not been proven in children under 5 years of age. Requests for Strep. pneumoniae Ag on urine should not be made for this age population.
