Lee Youngberg's Double Knee Replacement
Meet Our Doctor
I am a 59-year-old, retired pharmacist. I love to play golf and live a very active life style except that my osteoarthritis (medial aspect of both knees) had become totally disabling.
I could no longer walk more than a city block without being in disabling pain. I could not play golf unless I rode and could not even play if a course was cart paths only. My wife and I would go to Las Vegas and I would need to take a taxi to travel just a few blocks.
We are in Key West today* and I can walk for hours up to three or four miles without any pain. I have walked all the way across the island numerous times. I ride my bike every day as well. I am playing golf twice a week and expect to be back into my single-digit handicap form by May.
My right knee was done on October 5, 2010 and my left knee on November 29, 2010 by Dr. Richard Illgen. Physical therapy following surgery was hard work and demanding, but if you work hard, the results can be amazing.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Illgen and the staff at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Thank you for giving me my life back!
