The mission of the UW Health Athletic Training Residency Program is to prepare the athletic trainer to be a complete and versatile health care provider within the orthopedic clinic setting.

 

Vision

The UW Health Athletic Training Residency Program has the vision to become one of the premier training programs in the country for athletic trainers in the orthopedic clinic setting.

 

Candidates will be provided with a list of specific goals and objectives they will be required to meet throughout the course of their residency experience. Candidates will periodically be asked to demonstrate proficiency in a specific skill or concept throughout the course. These will be administered in the form of hands-on demonstration, self-assessment or written comprehension.

The program director, program coordinator, athletic training mentors, and physician mentors will be expected to provide ongoing feedback throughout the residency. Candidates will be provided formal feedback at the end of each rotation and at the completion of the residency program.
