Stipends, Benefits and Other Details
Six interns are admitted to the program in the August class and four interns are admitted to the program in the February class. During the 48-week program, interns perform multiple roles as students as well as instructors and resource persons. Interns alternate among clinical, administrative and community rotations.
The program is designed to inspire flexibility and an appreciation of the interrelationship between food service and clinical care. Interns spend the first few days of their internship receiving new employee orientation to the hospital and an in-depth introduction to the internship program and the department's organization, facilities and personnel. A handbook serves as a guidebook for presentations and discussions on learning experiences, policies and procedures and available resources.
Calendar
Interns start mid-August and graduate mid-July of the following year or start mid-February and graduate mid-January of the following year. The 48-week program includes one week of orientation and one week of vacation.
