Pharmacy Critical Care/Nutrition Support Residency
The primary focus of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Pharmacy Critical Care/Nutrition Support Residency is to become a competent clinician in areas of transplant as well as surgical and critical care pharmacology.
Activities while on the unit will include, but are not limited to:
- Rounding with one of the critical care teams daily
- Patient monitoring/problem solving
- Investigation of medication error reports and patient/medication safety follow-up
- ADR reporting
- Drug information; literature searches; reading and contributing to team files
- Attending codes
- Quality improvement activities, audits
- Team-related projects
- Communication and interaction with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and dietitians
- Working with 4th year Doctor of Pharmacy clerkship students
- Co-precepting Pharmacy Practice Residents and Junior Administrative Residents
- Inservices for pharmacy staff, residents, nurses and physicians
- Contributing as a member of the critical care team and nutrition support team
