UW Health's Heart and Vascular Care Preventive Cardiology program in Madison, Wisconsin, focuses on preventing heart and vascular disease and its complications.
Our experts provide treatment and multidisciplinary medical advice for people who do not have heart disease as well as those who have a history of heart disease - including heart attack, bypass surgery or other treatment of blocked arteries, stroke and blocked arteries in the legs.

Preventive Cardiology Services
In UW Health's Heart and Vascular Care Preventive Cardiology program, our comprehensive services include:
- Exercise
Regular physical activity tailored to patients' abilities, needs and interests - Education
Learning about heart problems, including causes, prevention, treatment and management - Counseling
Advice on lifestyle changes to lower the risk for further heart problems - Treatment
Our medical staff works to optimize medications for control of heart and vascular disease
Our program can benefit patients at significant risk for vascular disease, patients who cannot tolerate or do not respond to standard therapy for their vascular risk factors and patients with genetic disorders of lipid metabolism. We focus primarily on cholesterol and lipid management but also address cardiovascular issues such as tobacco use, high blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension and other risk factors.
