Ureteroscopia (con o sin stent) - URS
La ureteroscopia consiste en introducir un pequeño ureteroscopio en el uréter (el conducto que va de la vejiga al riñón) a través de la vejiga. Se realiza para examinar el uréter y/o tratar ciertos problemas del uréter. La manipulación del uréter puede producir inflamación, de forma que es posible que le dejen puesto un stent (tubo) muy pequeño y hueco durante varios días. El stent permitirá que la orina siga fluyendo. Usted tendrá que regresar a la consulta del doctor para que le saquen el stent.
El día de la cirugía – dúchese con el jabón antibacterial antes de irse al hospital tal como se lo indicaron.
Cuidados en casa
Dieta
• Reanude sus hábitos alimenticios normales.
• Beba al menos 6-8 vasos (de 8 onzas) de fluido al día. Puede beber la mayoría de estos fluidos antes de la cena, de forma que así no se levante a lo largo de toda la noche para orinar.
• No consuma alcohol durante 2 días.
Actividad
• Puede reanudar su rutina normal, pero descanse si tiene dolor o sangre en la orina.
Medicamento
• Si le recetan un antibiótico, tómeselo en su totalidad.
• Le recetarán pastillas para el dolor. Asegúrese de seguir las instrucciones sobre cómo tomarlas.
El orinar
• Es posible que se vaya a casa con un stent colocado. Quizás sienta que tiene que orinar con más frecuencia o puede producirle una sensación de ardor en la vejiga. Esto disminuirá con el tiempo. Es posible que tenga sangre en la orina.
Cuidados de seguimiento
Tendrá una cita de seguimiento con su doctor. Si tiene un stent colocado, es muy importante que asista a su visita de seguimiento y que no la aplace.
Cuándo debe llamar al doctor
• No puede orinar
• Tiene coágulos de sangre grandes en la orina
• No puede aliviar el dolor con las pastillas para el dolor
• La orina está turbia o tiene mal olor
• La orina está enrojecida o ensangrentada después de 3 días
• Tiene fiebre mayor de 100.5° F cuando toma la temperatura por la boca.

Ureteroscopy (with or without stent) - URS
Ureteroscopy involves putting a small scope into your ureter (the passage from the bladder to the kidney) through the bladder. This is done to look at the ureter and/or treat certain problems of the ureter. Handling the ureter can cause swelling, so a very small, hollow stent (tube) may be left in place for several days. The stent allows the urine to keep flowing. You will need to come back the doctor’s office to have the stent taken out.
The Day of Surgery shower with the antibacterial soap as directed, before you leave for the hospital.
Home Care
Diet
• Resume your normal eating habits.
• Drink at least 6-8 (8 oz) glasses of fluid daily. You may choose to drink most of this before dinner, so you are not up all night passing urine.
• Do not drink alcohol for 2 days.
Activity
• You may resume your normal routine, but rest if you have pain or blood in the urine.
Medicine
• If an antibiotic is ordered, take all of it.
• Pain pills will be ordered for you. Be sure to follow the instructions for taking them.
Passing Urine
• You may go home with a stent. It may feel like you have to pass urine more often or it may cause a burning feeling in the bladder. This will lessen with time. You may have blood in your urine.
Follow-Up Care
You will have a follow-up visit with your doctor. If you have a stent, it is very important that you not miss or delay your follow-up visit.
When to Call the Doctor
• Unable to pass urine
• Large blood clots in the urine
• Pain not relieved by pain pills
• Cloudy or foul smelling urine
• Red or bloody urine after 3 days
• Fever over 100.5° F by mouth.
