Nasal Rinses - Spanish HF#7432

La solución salina nasal es una solución hipertónica neutralizadora que suelta la mucosa seca o espesa cuando se pulveriza o enjuaga a través de la nariz, y proporciona el alivio calmante de los pasajes nasales congestionados.  Los enjuagues nasales pueden realizarse en casa de forma segura con los cuidados y las técnicas apropiadas.  Este folleto le guiará a lo largo de los pasos.  Si tiene preguntas, por favor hágaselas a su proveedor médico.

Procedimiento

 

1. Prepare una “solución salina normal” (agua salada) usando la receta que

    encontrará en la página de atrás. Nota: La solución de sal tiene la misma

    concentración que las lágrimas y otros fluidos corporales. Esto hace que sea

    calmante para las membranas frágiles que se encuentran dentro de la nariz. 

    Si usa agua regular, ésta puede causarle ardor y empeorar la congestión. 

 

Para los sistemas SinuCleanse™ Squeeze™ o Sinus Rinse™
▪ Remueva la tapa de la botella.
▪ Vierta el contenido del paquete de solución salina pre-

  mezclado SinuCleanse o

  ½ cucharita (tsp) de la mezcla seca dentro de la botella.
▪ Llene la botella con agua tibia, destilada, hervida o filtrada

  a nivel de la llave. 

  Deje aproximadamente ½” entre la línea del agua y la

  parte superior de la

  botella.
▪ Apriete la tapa de la botella, coloque un dedo sobre la

  punta de la tapa y agite

  cuidadosamente la botella hasta que los contenidos del paquete se hayan

  disuelto. 

 

Inclínese sobre el lavabo, o si lo prefiere realice el enjuague nasal cuando esté en la ducha.   Si está usando SinuCleanse™ Squeeze™, coloque el borde de la tapa dentro del orificio nasal derecho e introduzca la punta lentamente de forma que cree un cierre cómodo.  Si está usando Sinu Rinse™, coloque la tapa de forma ajustada contra el orificio nasal.  Dirija la punta hacia la parte trasera de la cabeza, y no hacia la parte superior de la cabeza.

Apriete cuidadosamente la botella de forma que la solución entre en el orificio nasal derecho.  Respire normal a través de la boca.  En unos momentos la solución comenzará a drenar por el orificio nasal izquierdo. Siga apretando la botella cuidadosamente hasta que haya usado aproximadamente la mitad de la solución.

 

Saque la punta y repítalo en el otro lado.  Puede sonarse cuidadosamente la nariz entre los enjuagues nasales.
Repita los enjuagues nasales con solución extra siguiendo las indicaciones de su doctor.

    SinuCleanse^TM (neti pot) o puede lavarlo de forma segura en la parte

    superior del lavaplatos.

3. No comparta con nadie la perilla de succión ni el dispositivo de irrigación neti

    pot ni lo use con ningún otro propósito.

4. Puede almacenar la solución salina restante sobre el mostrador durante 7

    días.

5. Es posible que necesite sonarse la nariz varias veces a lo largo de los

    próximos 15–20 minutos después del enjuague nasal a medida que drenan

    pequeñas cantidades de fluido.

Solución salina hipertónica neutralizadora para la irrigación nasal

 

Para mezclar su propia solución en casa, necesitará:

 

1. Sal para encurtir y de conserva (disponible en la mayoría de las tiendas).  

    Use sólo este tipo de sal. Los otros tipos de sal (sal de mesa, sal marina, sal

    gorda o kosher) contienen propiedades que pueden irritar el revestimiento

    de la nariz.
2. Bicarbonato de soda (baking soda) de cualquier marca
3. Agua destilada, hervida o con filtro en la llave del agua (de 96° a 99°F)
4. Un contenedor limpio con tapa hermética
5. Una cucharita (teaspoon) de medida

Para preparar 1 cuarto de galón de la solución, combine

 

De 1 a 2 cucharitas (teaspoons) de sal para encurtir y de conserva
De ½ a 1 cucharita (teaspoon) de bicarbonato de soda
1 cuarto de galón de agua destilada, hervida o con filtro en la llave del agua

 

Mezcle los ingredientes anteriores en un contenedor de 1 cuarto de galón.

 

NOTA: Debido a que no hay conservantes en esta solución, necesitará desecharla después de 7 días y preparar otra solución nueva.

Para preparar 1 taza (cup) de solución combine

 

3 cucharitas (teaspoons) de sal para encurtir y de conserva y 1 cucharita (teaspoon) de bicarbonato de soda (baking soda) en un contenedor pequeño y hermético.

 

Añada 1 cucharita* (teaspoon) medida de los ingredientes secos en 1 taza (cup) de agua destilada, hervida o con filtro en la llave del agua.

Nasal Rinses
 

Nasal saline is a buffered hypertonic solution that loosens dry or thick mucus when sprayed or rinsed through the nose and gives soothing relief of congested nasal passages.  Nasal rinses can be done at home safely with proper care and technique.  This handout will guide you through the steps.  If you have questions, please ask your health care provider.

Supplies you will need

SinuCleanse^TM system (neti pot) or
• SinuCleanse™ Squeeze™ or
• Sinus Rinse™
• Saline recipe on the last page
• Warm distilled, boiled or faucet level filtered water  (96° to 99°F)
• A clean container

 

Procedure

 

1. Make a ‘normal saline’ solution (salt water) using the recipe on the back

    page. Note:  the salt solution is the same concentration as tears and other

    body fluids.  This makes it soothing to the fragile membranes on the inside of

    the nose.  If plain water is used, it could sting and make the congestion

    worse. 

For SinuCleanse™ Squeeze™ or Sinus Rinse™ system
▪ Remove the cap from the bottle.
▪ Pour the contents of the premixed Sinucleanse saline

  packet or ½ tsp of the

  dry mixture into the bottle.
▪ Fill the bottle with lukewarm distilled, boiled or faucet

  level filtered water. 

  Leave about ½” between the water line and the top of

  the bottle.
▪ Tighten the cap on the bottle, place one finger over the

  tip of the cap and

  gently shake the bottle until the contents of the packet

  have dissolved. 

 
Lean over the sink, or if you prefer do the nasal rinse when you shower.   If you are using SinuCleanse™ Squeeze™, place the rim of the cap up to the right nostril and gently insert the tip so that it forms a comfortable seal.  If you are using Sinu Rinse™; place cap snugly against your nostril.  Aim the tip at the back of your head, not at the top of your head.

 

Squeeze the bottle gently so that the solution enters the right nostril.  Breathe normally through your mouth.  In a few moments the solution will begin to drain out of the left nostril.  Keep squeezing the bottle gently until you have used about half of the solution.

 

Remove the tip and repeat on other side.  You may gently blow your nose between nasal rinses.
Repeat the nasal rinses with extra solution as ordered by your doctor.

If you are using a SinuCleanse^TM system:
▪ Fill pot with saline solution.
▪ Place tip of pot into nostril and tilt head as

  instructed.
▪ You may gently blow your nose between nasal

  rinses.
▪ Repeat the nasal rinses with extra solution as

  ordered by your doctor.

2. Your syringe, spoons to measure and mixing container must be kept clean. 

    Wash them once a day with hot soapy water.  Lay out to dry between uses.

    The SinuCleanse^TM (neti pot) may be hand washed or it is top-rack

    dishwasher safe.

3. Do not share the bulb syringe or neti pot with anyone else or use it for any

    other purpose.

4. You may store the unused saline on the counter for 7 days.

5. You may need to blow your nose a few times over the next 15 – 20 minutes

    after you do a nasal rinse as small amounts of fluid drain out.

Buffered Hypertonic Saline for Nasal Irrigation

 

To mix your own solution at home, you will need:

1. Pickling and Canning salt (available in most grocery stores). Only use this

    type of salt.  Other types of salt (table salt, sea salt, kosher salt) contain

    properties that can be irritating to the lining of your nose.
2. Baking soda (any brand)
3. Distilled, boiled or faucet level filtered water ((96° to 99°F)
4. A clean container with an air-tight lid
5. A measuring teaspoon

 

To make 1 quart of solution, combine

 

1 to 2 teaspoons of pickling and canning salt
½ to 1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 quart of distilled, boiled or faucet level filtered water

 

Mix the above ingredients in a 1-quart container.

 

NOTE:  Because there are no preservatives in this solution, you need to throw it away after 7 days and make another batch.

 

To make a 1 cup of solution at a time, combine

 

3 teaspoons of pickling and canning salt and 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a small airtight container.

 

Add a measured 1 teaspoon* of the dry ingredients to 1 cup of distilled, boiled or faucet level filtered water.

 

*You may use less of the dry ingredients if you find the solution causes burning or stinging in your nose.  Ask your Doctor or nurse if you have questions about making the
