Full Bowel Prep Using Bisacodyl/GoLYTELYŽ - Spanish Version
Lavado intestinal completo usando Bisacodyl/GoLYTELY®
Siga estos pasos para limpiar su intestino antes de la cirugía.
2 días antes de la cirugía, coma el desayuno pero después consuma sólo líquidos claros/ transparentes (no hay límite de cantidad).
- Agua
- Gelatina (Jello®) clara (sin fruta)
- Paletas de hielo (popsicles)
- Agua con gas o soda
- Caldo
- Resource® o Boost Breeze®
- Jugo sin pulpa (manzana, uva)
- Caramelo duro
- Café o té no cargado y sin crema
- Gatorade®
- No consuma alcohol ni productos lácteos de ningún tipo
Mezcle el GoLYTELY® añadiéndole agua potable tibia hasta la línea de la botella. Coloque de nuevo el tapón a la botella y agítela para disolver el polvo. La mezcla será clara. No añada ningún sabor a la mezcla. Almacénela en la nevera. Úsela dentro de un período de 48 horas.
1 día antes de la cirugía, beba sólo líquidos claros hasta la medianoche.
- 9am: Tome 4 pastillas de Bisacodyl con agua. No las mastique ni machaque. No las tome dentro de un período de 1 hora tras tomar un antiácido.
Empiece a beberse el GoLYTELY® tan pronto como tenga una evacuación. Bébase 1 vaso de 8 onzas cada 10 minutos hasta que se haya bebido la mitad de la botella – o cuando sus heces estén claras. Si observa partículas arenosas en el agua del inodoro, bébase una taza de GoLYTELY® cada vez hasta que no quede materia sólida y se vea claro. No tome sorbos lentamente. Funciona mejor si se lo bebe rápidamente.
- 10 am-3 pm: Tan pronto como defeque (haga del baño), comience a beberse el GoLYTELY. Si no ha defecado antes de las 3pm, empiece a beber a las 3pm.
Béba un vaso de 8 onzas cada 10 minutos hasta beberse la mitad de la botella. No tome sorbos lentamente. Funciona mejor si lo bebe rápidamente.
- 1 hora después de acabarse el GoLYTELY: Tome la primera dosis de antibióticos: 750 mg de Metronidazole y 1 gramo (1000 mg) de Neomycin.
- 3-4 horas más tarde: Tome la segunda dosis de antibióticos.
- 10 pm: Tome la última dosis de antibióticos.
No coma ni beba nada después de la medianoche. Aunque debe seguir bebiendo líquidos claros hasta la hora de ir a la cama. Dúchese antes de ir a la cama.
Mañana de la cirugía (al menos 1 hora antes de marcharse de casa)
- Adminístrese un enema Fleets® Phosphate. Dúchese de nuevo.
Nota: Es posible que sienta algunos calambres en la parte inferior del abdomen mientras bebe el GoLYTELY. Si tiene dolor estomacal severo e uniforme, se siente aturdido y mareado, no defeca en absoluto, o si no puede beberse el GoLYTELY, llame a la clínica al 608-263-7502.

Full Bowel Prep Using Bisacodyl/GoLYTELY®
Follow these steps to clean your bowel before surgery:
2 days before surgery, eat breakfast but then drink only clear liquids after (no limit on amount).

Mix GoLYTELY® by adding lukewarm drinking water to top of line on bottle. Recap bottle and shake to dissolve the powder. The mixture will be clear. Do not add any flavorings to the mixture. Store in refrigerator. Use within 48 hours.
1 day before surgery, drink only clear liquids until midnight.
- 9am: Take 4 bisacodyl tablets with water. Do not chew or crush them. Do not take within 1 hour of taking an antacid.
As soon as you have a bowel movement, start to drink the GoLYTELY®. Drink 1 8oz glass every 10 minutes until half the bottle is gone – or your stools are clear. If you see sandy particles in the toilet water, drink a cup of GoLYTELY® at a time until all solid matter is gone and it looks clear. Do not sip slowly. It works better if you drink quickly.
- 10 am-3 pm: As soon as you have a bowel movement, start drinking the GoLYTELY. If you haven’t had a bowel movement by 3pm, start drinking at 3pm.
Drink 1 8oz glass every 10 minutes until half the bottle is gone. Do not sip slowly. It works better if you drink quickly.
- 1 hour after finishing GoLYTELY: Take the first dose of antibiotics: metronidazole 750 mg and neomycin 1 gram (1000 mg).
- 3-4 hours later: Take the second dose of antibiotics.
- 10 pm: Take the last dose of antibiotics.
Nothing to eat or drink after midnight. You should keep drinking clear liquids until bedtime though. Shower before going to bed.
Morning of surgery (at least 1 hour before leaving home)
- Give yourself a Fleets® phosphate enema. Shower again.
Note: You may feel some cramps in your lower abdomen while drinking the GoLYTELY. If you have severe, steady stomach pain, get light-headed and dizzy, don’t have any bowel movements at all or can’t drink the GoLYTELY, call the clinic at 608-263-7502.
After hours and on weekends, call the hospital paging operator at 608-262-0486 and ask for the resident on call for Dr. ______________. Tell the doctor you are doing a bowel prep for surgery and explain your situation.
