¿Qué es un Flexhaler?

 

Un Flexhaler contiene medicamento para el asma que se utiliza cada día para reducir la inflamación dentro de las vías respiratorias de los pulmones.  El medicamento (budesonide, un corticoesteroide) viene en forma de polvo.

 

¿Cómo uso un Flexhaler? 

 

1. Haga girar la tapa y levántela sujetando derecho el inhalador.
2. Prepare el inhalador la primera vez que lo use. Para hacerlo, haga girar del todo el asimiento marrón hacia la derecha, y entonces gírelo completamente de nuevo hacia la izquierda hasta que haga clic. Repítalo.
3. Para cargar la dosis, haga girar el asimiento marrón completamente hacia la derecha y completamente hacia la izquierda hasta que haga clic. No agite el Flexhaler después de cargarlo.
4. Espire o eche el aire para vaciar sus vías respiratorias. Nunca sople dentro de la boquilla del Flexhaler.
5. Coloque cuidadosamente la boquilla entre los dientes; cierre los labios y respire profundamente por la boca.
6. Aguante la respiración durante aproximadamente 10 segundos.
7. Antes de echar el aire, saque el inhalador de la boca.
8. Si necesita otra dosis, repita los pasos 3 al 7.
9. Reemplace la tapa y hágala girar hasta que cierre.
10. Enjuáguese la boca con agua y escúpala o lávese los dientes.

 

¿Cómo limpio el Flexhaler®?

Use un pañuelo o paño seco para limpiar la boquilla.

 

¿Cuántas dosis quedan en el Flexhaler®?

Hay una ventana debajo de la boquilla que muestra cuántas dosis quedan. Su Flexhaler® estará vacío cuando el número "0" en el fondo rojo haya llegado a la mitad de la ventana.

What is a Flexhaler?

 

A flexhaler holds asthma medicine which is used every day to help lessen swelling inside the airways in your lungs. The medicine (budesonide, a corticosteroid) is in powder form.

 

How do I use a Flexhaler?

1. Turn the cover and lift off with the inhaler upright.
2. Prime the inhaler for the very first time it is used.  To prime, twist the brown grip fully to the right, then fully back again to the left until it clicks.  Repeat.
3. To load the dose, twist the brown grip fully to the right and fully to the left until it clicks. Do not shake the flexhaler after loading it.
4. Breathe or blow out to empty the air out of your airways.  Never blow into the flexhaler mouthpiece. 
5. Place the mouthpiece gently between your teeth; close your lips and breathe in deeply through your mouth. 
6. Hold your breath for about 10 seconds.
7. Before breathing out, remove the inhaler from your mouth.
8. If another dose is needed, repeat steps 3-7.
9. Replace the cover and twist shut.
10. Rinse your mouth with water and spit or brush your teeth.

 

 

How do I clean the Flexhaler®?

Use a dry tissue or cloth to clean the mouthpiece.

 

How many doses are left in the Flexhaler®?

There is a window under the mouthpiece that shows how many doses are left.  Your flexhaler® is empty when the number "0" on the red background has reached the middle of the window.
