Food-Drug Interactions: Foods to Help Absorb Posaconazole HF#470

Posaconazole is an antifungal medicine that is prescribed for you while you start chemotherapy.  This medicine is a liquid that is taken by mouth.  You need to take it with a full meal with foods that contain 15 GRAMS OF FAT for the medicine to be absorbed the best.  Below are some foods that work best to protect you and help it absorb better.  All of these items can be ordered through Room Service.

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil (15 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter (16 grams)
  • 1 Sugar cookie (11 grams)
  • 1 Magic Cup (11 grams)
  • 1 Ice cream shake (8 grams)
  • 1 ounce of cheese (9 grams)
  • 2 sausage links (9 grams)
  • 2 orders of scrambled eggs (8 grams)
  • 2 strips of bacon (6 grams)
  • 6 ounces. Cream Soup (6-9 grams)
  • ½ cup coleslaw (7 grams)
  • ½ cup pudding (5 grams)
  • 8 ounces 2% milk (5 grams)
  • 4 ounces whole milk (4 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon butter (4 grams)
