Cuidados en casa después de su colonoscopía
Qué esperar
Es común que tenga inflamación y dolor de gas debido al aire que fue introducido en su colon. Se sentirá mejor cuando expulse el aire.
Es posible que no haga del baño/defeque en 1 a 2 días.
Después de una polipectomía, o si se toman biopsias, es posible que sangre un poco por el recto.
En casa
No beba alcohol esta noche. No tome tranquilizantes ni somníferos esta noche.
Debe haber disponible un adulto que le lleve a casa. No debe manejar hoy.
Descanse hoy. Puede volver a realizar sus tareas cotidianas mañana.
Puede volver a tomar sus medicamentos de rutina a menos que le indiquen lo contrario.
Puede volver a consumir su dieta normal de comida. Empiece consumiendo una dieta ligera para prevenir la náusea.
Es posible que tenga cierto dolor o enrojecimiento en el área de la línea intravenosa durante un día o dos. Puede aliviarlo colocando un paño tibio y húmedo encima del área. Por favor, contacte a su doctor de cabecera si esto no mejora en un par de días.
No tome ninguna decisión importante hoy.
Llame a su doctor enseguida si tiene
- escalofríos
- fiebre mayor de 101ºF
- dolor abdominal
- grandes cantidades de sangrado por el recto (más de 1 a 2 cucharadas)
- inflamación excesiva del abdomen

What to Expect
It is common to have bloating and gas pain because air was put into your colon. You will feel better when you expel the air.
You may not have a bowel movement for 1-2 days.
After a polypectomy, or if biopsies were taken, a small amount of rectal bleeding may be present.
At Home
Do not drink alcohol tonight. Do not take tranquilizers or sleeping pills tonight.
You must have an adult to take you home. You should not drive today.
Rest today. You may resume normal daily tasks tomorrow.
You may resume your routine medicines unless told otherwise.
You may resume your normal diet. Start out with a light diet to prevent nausea.
There may be some soreness or redness at the IV site for a day or two. You can relieve this by placing a warm, moist washcloth over the site. Please contact your primary doctor if this does not improve in a couple of days.
Do not make any important decisions today.
Call your doctor right away if you have
- chills
- fever over 101 F
- abdominal pain
- large amount of rectal bleeding (greater than 1-2 tablespoons)
- extreme abdominal bloating
