Weekend Reminders for Breast Brachytherapy Patients
- Take your temperature 2 times a day. Call your doctor if it is 100.0º F or higher.
- The support bra and dressings are only to be removed during your treatments. Keep the area dry. Do not shower, only sponge bathe.
- Avoid lifting more than 10 pounds with the arm on the treatment side. Your arm motion might be slightly limited.
- Wash your hands before you add, move, or take off the gauze. Do not remove the support bra.
- If the skin becomes itchy, it may be helpful to place an ice pack on top of dressing. You may also try Benedryl® 25mg tablet taken by mouth. This drug may make you drowsy. If you take medicines to lower your blood pressure, ask your pharmacist before taking Benedryl®.
