Pediatric Healthy Eating: Rewards for Healthy Eating
Children, just like adults, need rewards for working towards goals for health. Listed below are age-appropriate rewards for your child that are not related to food. Keep a calendar and record the progress each week towards their reward.
Young Children (ages 5-8)
Daily stickers
Grab bag with small items
Play date with a friend
Small toy
Spending the night with grandparents or friends
Staying up later
Alone time with mom or dad
Outing to favorite place (zoo, museum, park)
Going for a picnic
Playing a game with family
Skating, bowling or swimming
Middle Childhood (ages 8-12)

Planning of day’s activities
Going to movies and taking a friend
Making a craft with mom or dad
