Cistouretrografía miccional (VCUG por sus siglasen inglés)
Esta prueba consiste en una serie de radiografías de la vejiga. Se toman las radiografías cuando la vejiga está llena, mientras orina (micción) y cuando la vejiga está vacía. Esta prueba muestra la forma de la vejiga. Puede ayudarnos a averiguar si la orina se regresa a los riñones cuando orina.
La prueba durará aproximadamente 45 minutos. No necesita preparación previa. Quizás necesite proporcionar una muestra de orina.
Se coloca un tubo en la vejiga para drenar la orina y se llena con un medio de contraste. Una vez que la vejiga esté llena, se toman radiografías. Se saca el catéter (tubo) y se le pedirá que orine mientras está acostado en la mesa. Se tomará otra radiografía. Cuando su vejiga esté vacía, se tomará la última radiografía.
Los padres podrán estar con su hijo/a durante la prueba. El Departamento de Child Life está disponible para proporcionar distracción y juegos.

VCUG: Voiding Cystourethrogram
This test is a series of bladder x-rays. The x-rays are taken when it is full, during urination (voiding) and when it is empty. This test shows the shape of the bladder. It can help us find out if urine backs up into your kidneys when you pass urine.
The test will take about 45 minutes. There is no preparation. You may need to give a urine sample.
A tube is put into the bladder to drain the urine and fill it with a contrast solution. Once the bladder is full, x-rays are taken. The catheter is taken out and you will be asked to void while lying on the table. Another x-ray is taken. When your bladder is empty, the last x-ray is taken.
Parents will be able to be with their child during the test. Child Life is on hand for distraction and play.
Your doctor will review the results of this test with you.
