Sunblocks

Sunblocks are used to protect your skin as much as possible from the damage done by being in the sun.

  • Thirty minutes before going out into the sun, apply a very thick layer of sunblock with SPF 15 or higher to all exposed skin.  The SPF (sun protection factor) in sunblock is rated by the amount of sunblock ingredient in the sunblock and the amount of sunblock you apply to your skin.
  • Apply sunblock every 2 hours during the time you are in the sun.
  • Apply sunblock after swimming or sweating.  Even if the sunblock is waterproof, some will wash off.
  • Try to be in the shade (under a tree or beach umbrella) when you can.
  • Wear a hat with a broad brim, sunglasses, and sun-protective clothing when you can.

Most sunblocks can be found at your local drugstore or on-line at www.drugstore.com or www.coolibar.com.
