Lista de Cuidados para Suturas

 ______    Mantenga el área cubierta durante ______ horas con el vendaje original; luego,_________________________________________________________

______    Coloque bolsas de hielo sobre el área durante 24 horas.

 

______    Cambie el vendaje todos los días durante  ________ días.

______    Mantenga el área seca; cúbrala con papel plástico cuando se duche durante _____ días. Si su vendaje se moja, póngase uno nuevo. No nade ni tome baños en la tina o el jacuzzi hasta que las incisiones hayan cicatrizado completamente;  esto puede tardar 2 semanas.

 

______    Déjese puestas las curitas cutáneas (steri-strips) hasta que se despeguen por sí solas. Con frecuencia, se desprenden en 5 a 7 días.

 

______    Aplique crema con antibiótico ______ veces al día durante _______ días.

 

______    Use Tylenol^® para el dolor leve.  Siga las indicaciones del frasco.  Hable con su doctor sobre otros medicamentos para el dolor.  Evite el consumo de aspirina ya que aumenta el sangrado, a menos que su doctor le diga que puede tomarla.

 

Cuando debe llamar a su doctor

 

• La incisión está enrojecida o caliente al tocarla
• Drenaje parecido a pus
• La temperatura (al tomarla de forma oral) es mayor de 100.4°F o 37.7°C en dos lecturas tomadas con 4 horas de diferencia.
• Inflamación, sangrado, o formación de contusión excesivos
• Tiene dolor que no puede controlar con su medicamento para el dolor

Suture Line Care Checklist

 

______    Keep area covered for ______ hours with original dressing; then,_______________________________________________________

______    Apply ice packs to area for 24 hours.

 

______    Change dressing daily for _______ days.

 

______    Leave incision area open to air.

 

______    Keep area dry; cover with plastic wrap when showering for ____ days. Apply a new dry dressing if your dressing becomes wet.  Do not swim, soak in a bathtub or hot tub until the incisions are completely healed.  It may take 2 weeks.

 

______    Leave steri-strips (thin white tapes) on until they peel off by themselves. They often fall off in 5-7 days.

 

______     Apply antibiotic cream _____ time a day for _____ days.

 

______    Use Tylenol^® for minor pain. Follow the directions on the bottle.  Discuss any other pain medicine with your doctor.  Avoid aspirin which increases bleeding unless your doctor tells you it is okay.

 

When to Call your Doctor

 

• Incision is red or warm to touch
• Pus-like drainage
• Temperature (by mouth) is greater than 100.4°F or 37.7°C for two readings taken 4 hours apart.
• Excessive swelling or bleeding or bruising.
• Pain you cannot control with your pain medicine
