Home Care after Cystocele or Rectocele Surgery Women's Health Clinic
Please call to make a follow-up visit. We would like to see you in 3 to 4 weeks.
Activity
- You may walk, climb stairs, or do other easy movements.
- No tampons, sexual intercourse, or douches until you check with your doctor at your visit after surgery.
- Avoid heavy activities such as lifting more than 10 pounds, shoveling, running, or other heavy exercise.
- Use a stool softener (such as Colace® or docusate sodium) daily for 1 to 2 weeks. You can buy it at a drug store without doctor's orders. Drink plenty of fluids and eat high fiber foods to help your stools remain soft.
When to Call Your Doctor
Please call if you have
- A fever over 100.4°F for 2 readings taken 4 hours apart.
- Heavy bright red bleeding.
- Pain that doesn't go away with medicine.
- No bowel movement in 3 days.
- Any questions or concerns.
