Breast Pump Rental

We would like to give you some basic facts about your options for breast pump rental.  Below are common questions parents may have.

Can I rent a breast pump?

Yes.  You can ask your nurse to call the Nurse Case Manager who will help you find places to rent breast pumps in your county.

Is it better to buy or rent?

Costs for renting very nice pumps can be low, so you will need to compare costs.  You may want to think about buying a pump if you think it would be cheaper than long-term rental.  You may also want to think about buying a pump if you will be using it for your next baby.

What type of pump would best fit my needs?

  • is for mothers who will not be pumping very often.  This type of pump can take longer and be more painful.  No power is needed.  If you will be pumping daily you may want to think about one of the pumps below.

  • is for mothers who travel or commute.  This pump is small, runs on AA batteries and may come with a plug-in.

  • is good for long term, frequent breast pumping.  With this pump, both breasts can be pumped at the same time, so pumping time is cut in half.  This type of pump can be plugged in or used with a power pack.

The proper breast pump will save you time, give you peace of mind and provide the best pumping for your needs.

Where can I get more help?

Please feel free to ask for any help.  There is also an expert in breast-feeding (a certified lactation consultant) here in the hospital that we can contact for you.
