Projects

  • Major research project suitable for publication
    • Present at the Great Lakes Pharmacy Resident Conference. Residents may also present at the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW) Educational Conference or the PSW Annual Meeting.
    • Resident may also present at:
      • Infectious Disease Society of America Annual Meeting
      • Vizient (formerly University HealthSystem Consortium) Annual Meeting
      • American College of Clinical Pharmacy Annual Meeting
      • ASM Microbe Annual Meeting
      • Other clinical meeting of resident choice (manager approval required)
  • Rotation-related projects as assigned by rotation preceptors

  • Pharmacy grand rounds
  • Pharmacy and nursing inservices
  • ID fellows conference
  • Trauma conference (trauma surgeons and residents)
  • Leadership of journal club discussions
  • Resident Report for co-residents (all residents meet once weekly, PGY2 will present 1 time/year)

Teaching Opportunities

  • Clinical instructor status at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy
  • Co-Preceptorship of 4th year students on elective clinical rotation at the hospital
  • Assist precepting PGY1 residents on ID elective rotation
  • Didactic lecturing at School of Pharmacy (Infectious Diseases therapy module, Critical Care elective course)
  • Teaching certificate program available for all residents at Madison-area hospitals

Other Activities

  • Assist in the development of institutional guidelines and protocols
  • Serve as a member of institution committees related to infectious diseases
  • Attend Infectious Disease grand rounds, fellows conference, and journal clubs
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support training and institutional Blue Cart training
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support training
  • Opportunity to interact with 25+ co-residents daily

Travel

  • Support travel to national clinical pharmacy meeting of residents choice (residents encouraged to attend Midyear)
  • Great Lakes Pharmacy Residency Conference
  • Support to attend other meetings in the state of Wisconsin
