What's New

Welcome to the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics GME Office. Following are updates and announcements for residents and fellows at UW Hospital and Clinics.

Congratulations to Art Walaszek, MD, for the ACGME Parker J. Palmer "Courage to Teach" Award

We're proud to announce that Art Walaszek, MD, program director in psychiatry, received the ACGME Parker J. Palmer "Courage to Teach" Award. This award honors program directors who find innovative ways to teach residents and to provide quality health care while remaining connected to the initial impulse to care for others in this environment. Dr. Walaszek will receive his award at the ACGME Annual Education Conference in National Harbor, Maryland in March 2014.

Second Annual GME QI Awards

This past year, another cohort of PG1s (now currently PG2s) finished the UW Hospital and Clinics GME Quality Improvement curriculum, including the Introduction to Patient Safety and Quality Improvement modules through MedHub, lessons through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and a QI assessment.

We recognize the following programs and individuals for being top achievers in the QI curriculum. Programs were distinguished by average score of post-tests for all PG1 residents, and individuals were distinguished by pre- and post-test scores along with the extent of IHI lesson completion. Individuals and residents in the awarded programs will receive a gift card to EVP and/or the Babcock Hall Dairy Store.

Thanks for all your hard work this year!
