Go Red Previous Events 2007

UW Health's Go Red For Women partnership with the American Heart Association includes a series of events throughout the year to raise women's awareness about heart disease. Following are the events that occurred in 2007.

  • December 27, 2007 - Hilldale Hikers Lecture - "STRESSED!? WHO, ME?" - Stress Management Strategies

    Our featured lunch and learn speaker was Susan Trier, personal trainer and owner of Why Not Movement. Susan has nationally recognized certifications in pilates, yoga and personal training.
  • December 13, 2007 - Hilldale Hikers Lecture - "Seasonal Affective Disorder: When It's More Than Just the Winter Blues"

    A discussion about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), its diagnosis, implications and treatment for adults and children. Presented by Jerry Halverson II, MD, assistant professor in psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • November 1, 2007 - Women's Night Out

    A Go Red For Women heart health educational booth was among several booths on display at this year's Women's Night Out at Adams-Friendship High School in Adams, Wisconsin.
  • November 3, 2007 - Midvale Community Lutheran Church Health Fair

    Go Red For Women had an educational booth at Midvale Community Lutheran Church's Health Fair. Go Red For Women speaker Jane Nelson Worel, APNP, MS, also addressed prevention and treatment of heart disease in women.
  • November 17-18, 2007 - Madison Women's Expo

    Go Red For Women had an educational booth at the Madison Women's Expo.
  • October 31, 2007 - Future Lifestyles Show

    A Go Red For Women educational booth was on display at the Future Lifestyles Show at the Alliant Energy Center.
  • Fall 2007 - Free Health Screenings

    Go Red For Women offered free health screenings in September and October. Look for more free screenings in the future.
  • October 13, 2007 - Heart Walk

    The Madison-area Heart Walk was held at Warner park, creating opportunities for people to improve their health by walking and simultaneously raising funds to help fight heart disease and stroke.
  • October 11, 2007 - Immunizations: What Everyone Needs to Know and Do

    Mary Hayney, PharmD, associate professor from the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy was the featured speaker.
  • September 13-15, 2007 - Quilt Expo

    Go Red had a booth at the Quilt Expo at the Exhibition Hall of the Alliant Energy Center.
  • September 9-15, 2007 - Hilldale Fall Fashion Week and "Love Your Heart" Fashion Show

    A Go Red For Women booth was available at Hilldale Mall during its Fashion Week, and Go Red also held a "Love Your Heart" fashion show on September 11 in the Hilldale Mall atrium.
  • August 10-12, 2007 - Belleville Quilt Show

    Quilters from around Wisconsin have been asked to make and donate "Go Red For Women" quilts, which will be auctioned off at the 2008 American Heart Association Go Red For Women Luncheon. To help teach quilters about their own heart disease risk, Go Red For Women had a booth at the 4th Biennial Summer Twilight Quilt Show at Belleville High School.
  • August 7, 2007 - Go Red at the National Night Out Against Crime Public Health and Safety Fair in Lake Mills, Wis.

    About 200 people stopped by the Go Red For Women booth to learn about women's heart health and UW Health Heart and Vascular Care programs.
  • August 6, 2007 - UW Health Heart and Vascular Care Day at the Wisconsin State Fair

    All guests who stopped by the Go Red For Women booth received a free red dress pin and a "Love Your Heart" cookbook.
  • June 16, 2007 - Juneteenth

    The American Heart Association partnered with UW Health to provide a Go Red For Women exhibition booth at the Madison Juneteenth event. Over 300 attendees visited the booth to receive a variety of educational materials relating to cardiovascular disease and stroke.
  • May 16, 2007 - CW "Beauty and the Geek" Casting Call

    The Madison CW hosted a casting call for the reality show "Beauty and the Geek" on May 16 at Hilldale Mall's Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company. The call was exclusively for "beauties," making the event a great location to educate attendees about the Go Red For Women movement.
  • April 17, 2007 - Madison Go Red For Women Luncheon

    The keynote speaker for the luncheon on April 17, 2007, was Eliz Greene, known as the "Red Dress Lady." Greene is a national speaker and author whose mission is to encourage women to recognize heart disease as their most serious health threat and promote support of the national public education and research projects. Eliz was 35 when she had a heart attack while pregnant with twins. View photos
