  • April 7, 2011 - Go Red for Women Luncheon

     

    More than 300 guests gathered at Monona Terrace to celebrate the participants from the Girlfriends Challenge, and also received heart-healthy cooking and exercise tips from UW Health experts.

  • February 3, 2011 - Red Dress Dash

     

    Women and men donned their best or warmest red dress and dashed around the Capitol Square to increase awareness of women and heart disease.

  • February 4, 2011 - National Wear Red Day

     

    Across the country and throughout the Madison area, men and women were encouraged to wear red to show their support for the fight against heart disease in women.

  • February 13, 2011 - Heart and Soul Open House

     

    More than 100 women experienced Nia movement, mindfulness meditation, healing touch and Qigong, while sampling healthy snacks and hot tea.

     

  • September 9-11, 2010 - Wisconsin Quilt Expo

    During the three day expo, quilters gathered to attend lectures and demonstrations, view prize-winning quilts and shop at vendors from around the nation. UW Health Go Red presented stretching exercises to help quilters keep active even while quilting and shared nutrition information for a heart-healthy diet.

  • April 15, 2010 - Go Red for Women Luncheon

     

    The Madison Go Red For Women Luncheon at Monona Terrace in Madison helped bring greater awareness of the critical issue of women and heart disease, and raised money for the American Heart Association to help women better understand their risks and treatment.

  • February 13, 2010 - Crystal Heart Ball

     

    An American Heart Association fundraiser raised awareness about the high rates of obesity among America's children and the need to help families become more physically active. Attendees enjoyed a strolling dinner, silent and live auctions and dancing at Nakoma Country Club in Madison.

  • February 5, 2010 - National Wear Red Day

     

    Across the country and throughout the Madison area, men and women were encouraged to wear red to show their support for the fight against heart disease in women.

  • November 21-22, 2009 - Women's Expo

     

    Brava Magazine presented the 11th anniversary celebration of the Madison Women's Expo, which included hundreds of exhibitors, celebrity guests, exciting classes, engaging demonstrations, interactive activities and so much more.

     

  • November 19, 2009 - Sip and Shop to Benefit Go Red for Women

     

    An exclusive trunk show featured jewelry from Just the 2 of Us, designed by mother/daughter team Deb Garten and Ali Stone. Held at the beautiful new Velvet Umbrella boutique in Middleton, Wisconsin, all proceeds from the event benefited the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement.

     

  • November 11, 2009 - Choose to Live! Premiere Party

     

    Guests met national Go Red spokewomen, including Madison’s own Jen Engel through a 30-minute NBC television special hosted by Dateline’s Hoda Kotb.

     

  • November 5, 2009 - Women's Night Out

     

    The seventh annual Women's Night Out features vendor fair, health information, dinner, door prize drawing, and a keynote presentation, "The Joy of Connection (We Get By With a Little Help From Our Friends)" by Mary Pierce.

     

  • October 3, 2008 - Gallery night

     

    Hilldale galleries, merchants & eateries hosted an engaging evening of Art, Music and Martinis! Attendees could view and purchase quilts inspired by American Heart Association's Go Red initiative (intended to spread the word about women's heart health) throughout the halls of Hilldale.

    UW Health Go Red hosted a booth at the 10th Annual Latino Health Fair that offered health information.

    UW Health Go Red hosted a booth at the Public Safety Fair with health information.

     

  • April 17, 2008 - Go Red for Women Luncheon

    The Madison Go Red For Women Luncheon at the Monona Terrace helped to raise money for the American Heart Association to help educate women about their risks for heart disease. The keynote speaker was Diana Nyad, who for 10 years was the greatest long-distance swimmer in the world.
  • March 12, 2008 - Home Sweet Home - Or is it? Safety Tips for Poison Prevention

    Our featured lunch and learn speaker was Donna Lotzer, R. Ph., poison education coordinator with UWHC Poison Prevention and Education Center who shared home safety tips to prevent accidental poisonings and help ensure the safety of children and adults in your home.

     

  • February 28, 2008 - Heart Disease: One in Three; It Won't Be Me

    Our featured lunch and learn speaker was Jean Einerson, MS, UW Health Preventive Cardiology Clinic Manager who encouraged participants to take charge of their own heart health and helped them learn how to make heart disease prevention a priority.

     

  • February 26, 2008 - Surgery: A Special Case for Women

    UW Health Heart and Vascular Care cardiothoracic surgeon Niloo Edwards, MD discussed the surgical options to address heart disease at a free presentation.

     

  • February 16, 2008 - Free CPR Training

    Go Red For Women offered two free CPR training sessions.

     

  • February 15, 2008 - Free Plaque Screenings

    Go Red For Women offered free plaque screenings. Look for more free screenings in the future.

     

  • February 14, 2008 - Hilldale Hikers Lecture - "Separating Fact from Fiction"

    Our featured lunch and learn speaker was UW Health Pharmacist Erin Robinson, PharmD, RPh.

     

  •  February 13, 2008 - Signs, Symptoms and Seriousness of PAD

    Karen Moncher, MD, cardiologist, and Girma Tefera, MD, vascular surgeon, helped attendees at this free presentation learn how to reduce their risk for heart attack, particularly those who have peripheral arterial disease.

     

  •  February 1, 2008 - National Wear Red Day

    Across the country and throughout the Madison area, men and women wore red to show their support for the fight against heart disease in women.
