Biking at Gear Up for Kids means you are not only helping yourself aerobically, but also making life a little easier for children and families treated at the world-class American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Proceeds raised at Gear Up for Kids will:
Hudson
Hudson is a 3-year-old boy from Sun Prairie who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2006. "Hudson has been through a lot, but he has made an excellent recovery and is doing well," says his oncologist, Ken De Santes, MD.
Biking at Gear Up for Kids means you are not only helping yourself aerobically, but also making life a little easier for children and families treated at the world-class American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Proceeds raised at Gear Up for Kids will:
- Help purchase bike helmets and car seats for disadvantaged children and families
- Benefit patients and families of American Family Children's Hospital
- Support the UW Health Pediatric Fitness Initiative, a program created to help kids develop good nutrition and exercise habits

Josselin
Josselin "used to eat a lot of cookies," says her mom. Now, thanks in part to a fitness plan developed at the UW Health Pediatric Fitness Clinic, the 7-year-old Madison girl has become more active, eats healthier, and has grown taller while maintaining her weight.

Samantha A sophomore at Edgewood College in Madison, Samantha, 19, has been seen at the American Family Children's Hospital since being diagnosed at age 6 with SMA, a disease that results in weakening of the muscles. "SMA is something I have, but I never let it define me. It has never changed what I have wanted to do."
