Dr. Agarwal earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh and completed his general surgery residency at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, CT. He then completed three fellowships in trauma surgery at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT, surgical critical care at University of Connecticut, Farmington, CT and thoracic surgery at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.

 
Dr. Agarwal is certified by the American Board of Surgery in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He specializes in burn surgery, trauma surgery, surgical critical care and general surgery. His research interests include chest wall stabilization, inflammation in wounds, trauma, and sepsis and therapy for acute lung injury utilizing a variety of ventilation strategies.

Research

Dr. Agarwal is the principal investigator on a multi-center National Institute of Trauma grant for acute lung injury. He also the principal investigator for an American Association for the Surgery of Trauma-funded study to develop a novel tool for chest wall stabilization.
