About

Ronald Guiao, MD, is a UW Health orthopedic surgeon and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Fellowship-trained in foot and ankle reconstruction, Dr. Guiao specializes in ankle care. He routinely performs ankle joint replacements, ankle fusions, tendon and ligament repairs, cartilage restoration, reconstructions and arthroscopy. He also diagnoses and treats foot- and ankle-related sports injuries, treats deformities such as bunions and hammertoes, manages chronic conditions like arthritis and removes masses.

Dr. Guiao’s approach to patient care is based on teamwork. He educates his patients about their condition, possible treatment options and what they can expect through the course of treatment. He answers questions and takes time to understand their goals and ease their concerns. He finds it rewarding to see his patient regain mobility, feel less pain and return to their favorite activities.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Guiao enjoys attending cultural events, watching movies, traveling and playing racquet sports.

I've always had a desire to restore other people's health and impact their lives in a meaningful, positive way.
