About

Paul Whiting, MD, is an orthopedic trauma surgeon at UW Health and an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine where he also serves as director of orthopedic trauma research. He treats traumatic injuries of the upper and lower extremities, as well as post-traumatic complications.

As a trauma surgeon, he cares for a range of upper and lower body fractures, including complex dislocations, non-union fractures (failure of healing in broken bones), malunion fractures (fractured bone deformities) and post-injury complications like infection. Dr. Whiting specializes in repairing fractures of the pelvis and hip socket.

Dr. Whiting is committed to maximizing the functional recovery of all his patients. Although he often meets patients for the first time in the emergency room, he believes in establishing trust and open communication. He treats everybody like family and strives to help his patients get back to the activities they enjoy.

His research interests include clarifying best practices for treating various types of orthopedic trauma, with a focus on helping developing countries. He also dedicates his time to educating the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.

In his free time, Dr. Whiting enjoys coaching his sons in hockey, baseball and mountain biking, participating in skiing and other winter sports, and watching his kids ski jump.

My patient care philosophy is very simple. I treat every single patient the way I would want to be treated.
