Lori DuBenske has a doctorate in psychology and is a UW Health cancer health psychologist. In her role she serves as co-director of the Cancer Psychology Clinic, which evaluates and addresses the unique psychological concerns and challenges of people living with cancer.

Lori specializes in offering strategies to help patients manage emotions and stress. She focuses on guiding patients to solve problems and take steps that foster healthy habits and lifestyles.

Lori’s training includes expertise in shared medical decision-making. She supports patients as they balance their personal preferences with the latest evidence-based treatment options. Lori evaluates the role of biological, psychological and social factors that can become obstacles to treatment, recovery and engagement in life. She strives to help patients make informed decisions that align with their personal values.

Lori has researched communication systems that empower people to engage in their medical care. Her work includes developing and testing web-based systems for cancer support and shared decision-making tools.

The cancer experience brings a host of difficult emotions and personal challenges. I help people ease some of the distress associated with cancer and cancer care.
