About

Jennifer Weiss, MD, is a gastroenterologist at UW Health. Dr. Weiss treats patients with hereditary gastrointestinal (GI) cancer syndromes. These include Lynch syndrome (LS), familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) syndrome and other genetic defects that raise cancer risks.

In addition to providing cutting-edge care for patients with GI cancers, Dr. Weiss counsels those at risk of developing inherited colorectal, stomach and pancreas cancers. She talks to patients about genetic testing, their personal risks and ways to manage risks, including lifestyle changes, advanced cancer screenings and preventive surgeries. Dr. Weiss stays current of new cancer-prevention opportunities within genetics and genomic medicine by regularly attending international conferences. She then makes those innovative options available to her patients.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Weiss is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health where conducts research on colorectal cancer screening and screening access.

In her free time, Dr. Weiss enjoys competing at the local curling club, where she first met her husband.

It’s rewarding to care for entire families and address genetic risks. I have long-term relationships with patients and their partners, parents, children and siblings.
