David Foley, MD, is a UW Health transplant surgeon and a professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Foley specializes in liver and kidney transplants for patients with end-stage kidney and liver disease. He also performs surgery on patients who have previously undergone liver or kidney transplants.
Dr. Foley enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary care team to provide successful organ transplants for people who are critically ill. Understanding that each patient is unique, he uses a patient-centered approach to care, listening to their experience and concerns. He then provides easy-to-understand information to help the patient make informed decisions about their care.
In addition to clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Foley researches new immunosuppressive therapies for people who’ve undergone kidney transplants. He also studies ways to better assess the function of donor livers prior to transplantation.
Outside of work, Dr. Foley enjoys golfing, going to the gym and spending time with his family.
Helping patients receive a new lease on life through organ transplant is absolutely amazing.
