After graduating from medical school in 1995, Dr. Afifi trained at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, the University of New Mexico, Albequerque, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania and Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt.  Following his general and plastic surgery residency, he completed three subspecialty fellowships in aesthetic and breast surgery, hand and microsurgery and craniofacial surgery. He also completed a clinical research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and was an Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at Cairo University.

His practice at UW Health covers general plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a special emphasis on partial and total breast reconstruction, surgery for migraine headaches and microvascular surgery. Dr. Afifi also sees patients at Transformations, our state-of-the-art facility on the far west side of Madison, where his practice is devoted to aesthetic surgery, including cosmetic breast surgery, facial rejuvenation and body contouring.
