| Research |
Research in the colon and rectal surgery laboratory focuses on two basic problems. First, we are interested in gaining a better understanding of the relationship between colon and rectal cancer and various environmental exposures. To this end, we are trying to gain insight into the role of PAS proteins, a family of proteins responsive to environmental stimuli, in the origin and disease development of colon and rectal cancer. Second, we employ various molecular and microscopic techniques to provide insight into those features of colon and rectal cancer that may correlate with response to treatment, recurrence, and survival. |
